Equipe Classic Racing launches Elan 60
We have now taken over the MG Live weekend from the MG Car Club and are launching the Equipe Summer Classic on June 8/9th at the Silverstone GP circuit. More on this event to come but we are excited to announce:
The 60th anniversary celebration of the Elan 26R in 2024 with a 60 minute Elan only race on Saturday June 8th on the Silverstone GP Circuit at the Equipe Summer Classic.
Supported by Tony Thompson Racing, this headline event is open to all pre 1966 FiA Lotus Elans and 26R competitors this celebration event promises to be the most competitive Elan race of all time with a huge grid of cars including rare Elans and cars with period history already confirmed.
This could be the most spectacular, closest and most exciting race of 2024.
The 60 minute pit stop race will be for one or two drivers. Professional drivers will be welcome and in addition to podium glory there will be separate trophies for the fastest amateur and professional drivers. As a clubman series, Equipe does not normally allow professional drivers. FiA papers are welcome but not demanded, a high level of car preparation and high driving standards will be expected. This feature race is open to Pre 1966 Series 1 and Series 2 Lotus Elan and Elan 26R conforming to FiA appendix K regulations running on Dunlop historic CR65 L section historic tyres.
FiA papers welcome but not mandatory.

1. Series Regulations
1.1 Title and Administration
Equipe Elan 60 is an invitation race organised and administered by Equipe Classic Racing Ltd. This race will not be run as a championship, but prizes will be awarded for race winners at the event.
It is the intention of the organisers to create a friendly, gentlemanly 60th anniversary race for the Lotus Elan for eligible cars with competent drivers. A high standard of both car presentation and driver behaviour will therefore be expected.

1.5 Competitor Eligibility
All drivers must hold a minimum of a current Motorsport UK Race Club race licence for this one-off UK event. A European equivalent with FIA endorsed logo is also allowed.
All drivers must be registered with Equipe Classic Racing for the 2024 season. This can be done at https://equipeclassicracing.co.uk
1.6 Registration
All drivers must be approved by and registered with Equipe Classic Racing
All drivers will be notified of acceptance before any race entry will be considered.
2nd drivers, Non owners or those renting / borrowing a car must be a fully paid up registered driver and will have to supply a covering letter of race experience prior to any race entry being accepted.
Equipe Classic Racing reserves the right to not accept or cancel the registration or entry of any driver at any time.
1.7 Race Entries / Cancellation
Close of entries will be 2 weeks prior to the event. Should you need to cancel your entry please inform us as soon as possible. A full refund less £75.00 admin fee will be given up to 2 weeks prior to the event. From 2 weeks to 48 hours prior to the event then a 50% refund will be given. 48 hours or less No Refund will be given.

These will be in accordance with the national regulations in the country of the event.

3. Sporting regulations / Race procedure / Pit Stop
These will be in accordance with the national regulations in the country of the event.
All races will be from a standing start in the order set by the fastest qualifying time.
At a pit stop race the grid positions will be set from the fastest qualification time, if there are 2 drivers both drivers must set a qualifying time and the driver that has set the fastest time will start the race from the position that has been set in qualifying.
3.1 Pit Stop regulations
Pit Stop regulations.
(1) Pit Stop for one or two drivers.
- a) During the 60 minute race the pit lane will be open for the compulsory pit stop between 20 minutes and 40 minutes from the start of the race. A “pit lane open” board will be shown for 2 laps after the pit is opened and a “pit lane closed” board for 2 laps after the end of the “Pit Window”.
- Competitors entering the Pit Lane for the Pit Stop must have seatbelts fully secured until the car has come to a complete halt in the Pit Bay.
- c) Engines do not have to be switched off.
- The car but must remain stationary for 45 seconds. This applies to single drivers and drivers sharing a car with a second driver. A single driver does not need to get out of the car
- Failure to comply with the Pit Stop Regulations will result in three lap penalty applied at the end of the race.
- f) Judges of fact will be appointed to ensure compliance.
(2) Any car not completing the compulsory pit stop during the Pit Stop window period as indicated in item (2a) above will result in a three lap penalty applied at the end of the race.
(3) No refuelling is allowed.
(4) WARNING: The pit lane speed limit is 60 kph and will be enforced by the use of either a speed gun or a timed pit entry and exit time. Note: please ensure your pit lane speed is not too slow as it will hold up more competitive cars.
(5) In the event of a safety car being employed in accordance with MSA Regulations the pit lane exit will be closed until the train behind the safety car has passed.
4. Race Penalties
These will be in accordance with the national regulations in the country of the event.
However, entrants should be aware that Equipe Classic Racing will monitor and discipline any poor, overly aggressive or dangerous driving and any driver or car failing to meet the standard approved by Equipe Classic Racing will receive a formal warning.
Any further infringements within a one-year period may result in exclusion from the series. The driver of any car damaged or causing damage during an Equipe Classic Racing event will also have to seek approval before they may continue to compete in future Equipe Classic Racing races.
During a pitstop race there will be a 3 Lap penalty for any single driver that does not stay stationary for the mandatory 30 second stop, that misses the pit window or does not stop at all. Speeding in the pit lane will also attract the same penalty.

5. Technical Regulations
5.1 EQUIPE Elan 60 General Principles
This race for for pre 1966 period F Lotus Elan and Elan 26R cars running to period FiA homologated specification as per FIA appendix K regulations.
FiA identity papers are preferred but will not be required for any Equipe Classic Racing events.
A completed car specification declaration form will need to be signed by the driver and submitted before any entry will be accepted.
Additional period modifications may be accepted providing any such modifications are declared to and are agreed by Equipe Classic Racing
All cars will be accepted or refused by Equipe Classic Racing on their individual merit.
It is expected that all cars comply with FiA appendix K vehicle regulations, or will run to a period specification as listed on your driver’s declaration/registration form to be approved by Equipe Classic Racing .
For this race the engine size shall be limited in accordance with FiA Appendix K requirements i.e. a maximum overbore of 1.2mm over the original production engine size and standard stroke. Engine capacity, bore and stroke will be checked. It is mandatory that you have your engine checked and sealed by an MSA scrutineer.

5.2 Safety Requirements
In accordance with the MSA or the national regulations in country of event.
5.3 Race Classes
Professional or Ex-Professional Drivers are permitted to enter this race provided they are a fully paid up member of Equipe Classic Racing for 2024
Amateur drivers are permitted to enter this race provided they are a fully paid up member of Equipe Classic Racing for 2024
Professional & Amateur drivers may share the drive in the race but will be classed as Professional.
5.4 Bodywork
Bodywork must remain as per period FIA Appendix K regulations or Equipe Classic Racing must approve any other modifications. Flared wheel arches are prohibited.
Local drilling or the cutting of holes in the front apron is allowed only to allow increased airflow to an engine oil cooler as in period.
Any additional non Appendix K regulation holes in the bodywork are forbidden along with any other form of modification to aid brake cooling.
5.5 Wheels
All cars may use either wire spoke or pressed steel wheels. Alternatively, cars manufactured after 1st January 1961 may use alloy wheels of period appearance.
All cars must use wheel rim diameter in compliance with the period homologation of the car.
All cars must run to the Homologated track.
5.6 Tyres
All cars running during qualifying and races must use Dunlop historic CR65 L section racing tyres. This is mandatory for the Equipe Elan 60 race.
5.7 Advertising
Equipe Classic Racing Advertising on cars, As a Historic series we expect advertising on the cars to be kept to an absolute minimum and in all cases must be of period appearance. Personal Advertising will be allowed on the front windscreen as a sunstrip to a maximum of 200mm. Equipe Classic Racing reserves the right to ask for decals and stickers to be removed should it be deemed necessary.
Space must be made available on all cars for event sponsor’s decals, and Equipe Classic Racing reserves the right to insist upon any competitor removing or covering any other sponsor’s decals if requested to do so.
5.8 Race Fuel
All vehicles may use Pump Fuel or Vp Racing Fuel to a maximum RON of 102.00; A full definition of pump fuel is given on page 60 of the current MUK Blue Book, but the key numbers are max RON of 100.0 and maximum lead content of 0.005 g/l.
5.9 Weight
All cars must run to their homologated weight.
