The story of the Jordan Racing Team really starts with a humble Morris Minor back in 1979.

That was the first race car that Mike Jordan owned and raced, having bought it for £750 with bank loans after convincing more than one bank manager that he was going to restore a classic car. It was indeed a classic car, but it was a racing version of the Morris Minor and he learned fast.

Mike then dabbled in Formula Ford but it was in touring cars and GT cars that he really made his name as a racer through the 1980s. At the same time, his engineering and technical ability drew customers to him and Team Eurotech was born to prepare and run racing Porsches for a wide array of customers.

In the early 1990s, Mike’s own racing centred on a BMW M3 and he won the Wilhire 24-hours in 1992 and 1993 and was runner-up in the 1992 Esso Group N Saloon Car Championship.

Through the Porsche Cup and up into national and international GT racing, the team progressed and evolved, with Mike spearheading the driving squad alongside drivers like Mark Sumter and David Warnock.

As well as the Porsches, Mike was renowned for racing in the mighty TVR Tuscan Challenge and was twice runner-up in the late 1990s and he was twice a champion in the V8 Eurocar category. The 2001 British GT title was another fine accolade for driver and team. Eurotech moved into international racing, and competed in the Daytona 24 hours, as well as running successfully in British GT racing.

However, by 2006 with headline sponsorship from John Guest, the team moved into the British Touring Car Championship where the media return for sponsors was outstanding. By now, Mike’s eldest son Andrew had built his reputation as a rising star of the sport, having won in Junior Rallycross from as young as 14. Andrew also became the youngest winner in British Rallycross Supercars, driving a 550BHP Ford Focus when he was 16.

In 2008, Mike and Andrew made history by being the first father and son team to race together in the British Touring Car Championship with Team Eurotech, and as Andrew’s full ability became apparent he became the increasing focus for the team.

In 2013 the team, branded as Pirtek Racing, took Andrew to the BTCC drivers’ title which was an incredible achievement for a small private team against the bigger BTCC squads. Andrew then raced with several other teams before the chance arose to sell Team Eurotech, giving Mike and Andrew the opportunity to switch their focus to historic racing with the start of Jordan Racing Team.
